Sunday Night Party...
Mumm-Ra to play at Access All Areas
The Bexhill band making the music headlines returned to the Pavilion for a special gig to close the Festival. Last seen on the bandstand, Mumm-Ra rocked the main auditorium, following their highly praised set at Glastonbury and playing support for The Kooks and the Kaiser Chiefs. At Access All Areas they were supported by two local young bands, Loyal 2 None and Pavilion favourites Safe 13.
Tickets for the evening were £10, with 300 tickets available at a special festival price of £5 for young people attending Access All Areas.
History...
October 2006 saw the very first East Sussex Youth Arts Festival, Access All Areas at the fabulous De La Warr Pavilion, the creative talents of the young people of East Sussex were celebrated through a programme of Dance, Music, Djing, Vying, Theatre, Performance, Visual Art, Photography, Graffiti, Film, Installation.
There were 15 workshops, 26 performances, and 8 exhibits over the three days; 24 groups from the region took part, around 350 young people, performed, ran workshops and exhibited their work; showing everyone what fantastically talented and creative people they are.
Young people who attended the Young People's Forums were responsible for running workshops, creating the Festival Myspace page, making sure other young people knew about the festival, performing and exhibiting, creating material for evaluation and volunteering throughout the three days at the front desk. We had input from 9 arts professionals leading workshops and performing. Almost 600 young people came to the festival to see the exhibits, performances and learn new skills at the workshops. Numerous other visitors to the DLWP saw the work and were very impressed; we had a lot of very positive feed back over the three days.
