Artists

The De La Warr Pavilion is committed to developing a strategic role in maintaining a dialogue and supporting artists' professional development.

We aim to create a range of professional development opportunities for artists offering support in developing their own practice and in engaging with a variety of publics.   We are keen to promote artists at the heart of the programme, involving artists across all art forms and from all cultural backgrounds.

The Pavilion recently hosted the inaugural Hen Weekend, artists professional development project.  Four artists commissions documenting the event are now available on the Hen Weekend website.

ARC @ DLWP
DLWP is a partner in the ARC scheme, a programme of Artists Professional Development co-ordinated by the Aspex Artists Resource Centre that has received funding to expand across the South East.

ARC is sited at six partner organisations positioned throughout the South East region. These are: Turner Contemporary, Margate; South Hill Park, Bracknell; OVADA (Oxfordshire Visual Arts Development Agency) in partnership with Modern Art Oxford; Fabrica, Brighton; The Lightbox, Woking; and the De La Warr Pavilion.

ARC programme of activities:

  • One-to-one surgeries for individual artists
A day of one-to-one surgeries take place at each partner organisation every month. The sessions are led by an Artist Advisor and last about 45 minutes
  • Advice for artist-led groups
Artist Advisors make visits to artist-led groups based within the region for surgery sessions
  • Networking events
Each year, six networking events take place at each partner organisation.  These are an opportunity to get together with your peers to discuss key issues, and often involve an invited speaker or facilitator.
  • Seminars
One large scale seminar takes place each year. These are developed by the lead and partner organisations in association with the Artist Advisors.
  • Website and email newsletter
Providing news of events and information throughout the region and forming a link between the ARC organisations.  To subscribe to the e-bulletin contact resource@aspex.org.uk
