On Line Gallery
The On Line Gallery includes photographs from recent courses, masterclasses and workshops.
Photography Masterclasses
The classes were run in conjunction with the exhibition of Bridget Smith's work at the De La Warr Pavilion. This work is the result of a commission to photograph the renovation of the Pavilion and is in keeping with Smith's other photographic projects. Her photographs are involved primarily with the architecture of escapism and fantasy. She explores the design of seduction and the roles these buildings allow us to take on. Previously she has worked extensively in Las Vegas, photographing its bizarre and fantastical hotels. The De La Warr Pavilion and the subtle magic of its dramatic form is ideal subject matter for her lens.
Participants on these workshops were asked to think carefully and openly about Smith's approach to the commission. An approach that was not a straightforward documentation of the renovations but one that dealt more with symbolism and metaphor.
The morning session of the workshop was spent looking at the work of Smith and of other artists that used photography in a similar way. This led to discussions and debate about uses and roles of photography and this fed into the afternoon session that was spent photographing in and around the pavilion. Participants were asked to keep in mind the concepts discussed earlier while making their photographs.

Photography Workshops
In the Easter break 2006 we held photography workshops for young people, led by artist Rob Walker.

Artist Teacher Scheme
Our first ATS course took place in April 2006. A two-day course aimed at primary school teachers wanting to broaden their professional practice with new skills in digital image making. Participants had the opportunity to explore Photoshop, digital photography and projection. Led by artist Tamsin Williams, participants created site-specific projections in the De La Warr Pavilion inspired by the architecture.
