Comments card

"We moved to Bexhill from London after a pilgrimage to see the De La Warr Pavilion.  Now we can see it every day.  What a fantastic building!  There are few things better than sitting in the cafe and looking out to sea.  It is great that it has been refurbished.  A true design icon."

"Love this building, inside and out a fabulous space, inspired and interesting.  Great food, exhibition space and theatre and staff that couldn't have been more helpful.  Just a pity we are so far away, but definitely worth visiting and I can't wait to go back.  Loved the whole ambience."
West Yorkshire

"I think the De La Warr is a delightful experience & I don't have to go all the way to London for world class art & a serious coffee with unsurpassable views."

"I think it was good because it was for any age and it had lots of interesting material and I hope we can do it agan."

It's very good because it's for all ages."

"The Pavilion we have known for twenty-five years has been transformed into a dynamic centre for artistic activity.  This beautiful architectural space provides the opportunity to engage with artwork of the highest quality making it unique in the region.  But excellent exhibitions are only one aspect.  Just as important is public participation.  From walk/talk sessions to workshops, and performance art for all ages, there is quite simply a great deal to do.  We have used it for extending our experience of contemporary art, seminars on the twentieth century novel, discussion sessions with artists, music and ballet.  Yet what is the value of an idea without  attitude?  The ethos is welcoming.  Here we have a centre for the arts which is relaxed, open-minded, eager to involve, and alive."

"To have a gallery here on the south coast which holds exhibitions of cutting edge, avant guard art, must be to everyone‘s benefit.  That the exhibitions are free and located in a building which is itself a stunning experience must surely be an added bonus."
Hastings, East Sussex

"I would like to say how very proud of the De La Warr Pavilion we are, here in Bexhill.  It is such a beautiful building, with one of the best views in the country.  We now have first class exhibitions being held here, as well as all sorts of entertainment.  I have been taking an art class at the Pavilion, in conjunction with Sussex University, which I have thoroughly enjoyed.  I used to do some voluntary work at The Pavilion, helping out with the art exhibitions, so had a chance to speak to a lot of the visitors.  They came from all over the world to see the building and were nearly always extremely impressed with it, saying they wanted to come back again and again."

"It is great to see the Pavilion back in business with a first class refurbishment.  The building and galleries are always buzzing with the high quality exhibitions and events.  The combination of auditorium, exhibition space, terraces, restaurant and bars works perfectly."

"As the Judge of the Sussex Business Awards 2006, Sports Leisure and Tourism Category, I was delighted to announce the De La Warr Pavilion as the winner.  The Building is stunning as is the sea side location in Bexhill.  I was impressed not only by the facilities that the Pavilion offers but also by the enthusiasm and commitment of the management team.  It is their dedication that will ensure the ongoing success of the Pavilion.  Bexhill is lucky to have the Pavilion, as is Sussex and indeed the whole of the South East of England.  At the Sussex Business Awards ceremony I described the De La Warr Pavilion as a jewel that everyone should see."
