I’m just having a few minutes before I attend a celebration of Joy Hughes term as Chairman of Rother District Council in the Restaurant at DLWP. Joy is a long term supporter of the Pavilion and ex Trustee and it’s great to be hosting her drinks here. I have been reflecting on what a great and varied 10 days it’s been at the Pavilion since May began and the weather started to warm up.

The month started with a sell out gig by Noah and the Whale and then a overnight turnaround by the technical team for the Local Election Count. Since then we have shown the films Quartet and the Wicker Man, hosted a wedding, celebrated 10 years of BMX partners, The Source, with a major Skate & BMX event and an exhibition by local artists from the Bexhill Artists Workspace.

Today it’s also been the Autism Sussex Conference and of course Shaun Gladwell’s exhibition Cycles of Radical Will continues to attract great audiences. Tomorrow we present an event by the Editions Mego record label, who are at at the forefront of radical electronic music.

We’ve been thinking a lot about how we engage with our visitors and working on the East Sussex County Council Social Capital Research Project. The last 10 days has given us some great material.

Stewart Drew is Director and Chief Executive here at De La Warr Pavilion.
