To celebrate the opening of the exhibition The People’s Pavilion – the first 80 years, the De La Warr Pavilion held an exclusive preview event, free for DLWP Members and subscribers to Sussex Life magazine, our media sponsor.
The evening included refreshments and speeches from DLWP Director Stewart Drew and John Dowling, former editor of the Bexhill Observer and life-long supporter of the Pavilion.
The People’s Pavilion: Our First 80 Years

The exhibition will show how the Pavilion has been used and shaped by our visitors since its opening in 1935. It will contain material gathered from Bexhill Museum and the Bexhill Observer archives as well as objects, images and stories collected from the public as part of our volunteer-run Heritage Research Project, an ongoing initiative to build a digital archive for the future.
