Chair of Fundraising Committee
The De La Warr Pavilion Charitable Trust is seeking to appoint a new member of its Board of Trustees to assist in the development of strategic fundraising activity. The Board is chaired by Steve Williams, who until recently was recently Chief Legal Officer and Group Secretary of Unilever.
The De La Warr Pavilion is a Grade One listed building and an international centre for contemporary arts on the seafront in Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex Built in 1935, its purpose was to provide accessible culture and leisure for the people of Bexhill and beyond, and to regenerate the economy of the town and surrounding area. Since its refurbishment in 2005 the Pavilion has welcomed over 3 million visitors.
The Board has a small number of very active sub-committees advising on key areas such as trading, the building and learning activity, and this new position would Chair a committee which would advise on strategic fundraising.
The establishment of this new committee reflects the priorities for the governance and management of the charity and the desire to develop our custodianship of the listed building and the associated high quality artistic programme that happens within it.
Together with the Board and Executive, the priorities are to:
- Drive the development of research, planning and strategy, which makes the organisation attractive to potential funders and donors.
- Bring direct experience of high level private philanthropic giving and private trusts & foundations.
- Identify fellow members ofthe Committee with the appropriate expertise, to influence board membership and attract high-level patrons with a close association with the organisation.

We expect Board members to attend up to eight meetings per annum (DLWP Trust and Committee meetings in London and Bexhill), as well as events at the Pavilion, as required. Please note that this position is unremunerated.
