Colourful painting scene with open watercolor set, brushes, and pencils. Poetic text on paper reads: “Shells and stones…secret doors.” Creative and inspiring.

Join us for a special Art Sundays session, Paint and Poems, celebrating the final day of our current Betty Parsons exhibition. The session is inspired by Betty’s love of poetry, and by a painting on the ground floor that features one of her poems.

Participants will create an abstract watercolour painting based on feeling rather than representation. While the paint dries, you’ll explore poetry through selected poems and original prompts written especially for this session by writer and Pavilion gallery assistant Rachel Marsh.

To finish, you’ll write your own poem directly onto your painting, bringing image and text together in a single, personal artwork. Open to all ages and abilities, this is a relaxed space to explore colour, words, and feeling together.

What are Art Sundays?

Art Sundays are free drop-in creative workshops that take place on the first and third Sunday of every month, open to all ages.

Each week, the workshops will be led by an artist taking inspiration from our exhibitions programme.

You can find Art Sundays in the Rooftop foyer from 1pm – 3.30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Art Sundays have been kindly supported by the Isabel Blackman foundation.
