We will create pendant flags, from fabric and apply a simple design which may represent something personal to you.
Looking at symbols of our identity, inspired by the Tayhin exhibition, where Silät community members have produced large-scale textile works with their own symbols or messages, we will look at creating shapes and symbols that represent something about ourselves, either pictorial or abstract. This might be inspired by the flags held by audiences at festivals, those used to decorate sandcastles on the beach or something else.
This creative workshop is led by an artist who has completed Outside In’s Step Up: Leading Workshops programme. This session will respond to the exhibition by Claudia Alarcón & Silät and offer an inclusive, accessible opportunity for adults to explore creative expression in a safe and welcoming environment.
