SPARK! John Cole

Bexhill After Dark is back for the fourth year running on Saturday 25 January, 5-8pm. The much-anticipated light festival, produced by well-established local events company 18 Hours will light up the streets of Bexhill.

Artists include Air Giants who will bring the magnificent Luma, a 9-meter-long illuminated snail, and Murmuration Arts with their magical installation: Nighttime Lullabies. The Peace Poem by Emergency Exit Arts will no doubt amaze audiences, standing at 14ft high and created to commemorate the first day of peace after WWI plus Lightfires bringing an awe-inspiring fire display to the Metropole lawns.

This year, there will be a stage at the De La Warr Pavilion, displaying local artists including Barefoot Opera and Office for Personal Development with their rendition of the Bexhill song. Other local and international performances and installations will be on show including the UK African Acrobats, the ever-enchanting Show Globe, Circo Rum Baba’s Light Gliders plus local performers like Dolly Delicious on skates and Xena Flame with her hula hooping workshop.

Along with all the light up entertainment, 18 Hours are providing free creative workshops to local schools and, together with community groups, will create illuminated props which will be used in the parade, a spectacular sight that should not be missed.

This event is funded by Arts Council England, Rother District Council and Bexhill Town Council. It has also generated generous local sponsorship and is supported by an advisory panel.
