Glyndebourne are running a series of free workshops for 14-19 year olds at venues across Sussex this summer, including popping up at the De La Warr Pavilion on 13 August.
You don’t need to have sung before to join in, just be curious to find out more about music and performing! Working with director, singer and animateur Freya Wynn-Jones alongside coach, therapist, trainer and singer Darren Abrahams, come and explore storytelling and activism through music. Learn how to safely make space to create with others and how an opera is built.
Glyndebourne has been making world-class opera near Lewes since 1934. We have been working with local young people since 1986 to explore stories through music. The Glyndebourne Youth Opera (GYO) is an award winning youth group for local 9-19 year olds and offers opportunities to local young people from workshops with industry professionals to performing in the Glyndebourne Festival. The workshops will explore opera-making and could be your first step on a journey to the Glyndebourne stage!
These workshops introduce a programme of exciting autumn and spring activity featuring more involved, regular meetups. In summer 2024 we will begin recruiting for a brand new production written for Glyndebourne Youth Opera, premiering in 2025.
