Film making Competition
The De La Warr Pavilion and McPhersons Chartered Accountants are excited to announce a new competition for budding filmmakers which could see your short film shown to thousands of people on the wall of the Pavilion, as well as earning you £250 in prize money.
Since summer 2016, McPhersons have generously supported the De La Warr Pavilion’s Sunset Screenings; free outdoor screenings of family-friendly films.
This year, McPhersons are co-headline sponsors of ‘Summer at DLWP’, a series of free outdoor events every Saturday in August. Each day features music and creative activities, culminating in a Sunset Screening.
Ordinary accountants do not sponsor events such as this. But McPhersons are no ordinary accountants. In association with the De La Warr Pavilion, they are offering a production budget of £250 each to three budding filmmakers to produce a memorable and shareable short film, no more than one minute long, to demonstrate to audiences the company’s brand values of being trustworthy, modern, forward looking, proactive, focussed, progressive, purposeful, human, approachable and different.
Each film will be shared online by the De La Warr Pavilion and McPhersons.
The winner, selected in late July, will be shown before each Sunset Screening in August and be awarded an additional £250 prize money. That’s over 3,000 people who will see your film projected on the side of the De La Warr Pavilion and more when shared on the DLWP YouTube Channel. The selected filmmaker will be offered further, paid film work over the summer and if any of those shortlisted want to take their ideas further in the future, McPhersons will provide free bookkeeping and accountancy advice for the first year of the business start-up.
This competition is aimed at non-professionals and local students. Anyone can enter, but remember this is for fun rather than a professional masterpiece – we don’t want anything too serious so make sure you have fun making it!
All you need is a camera and an idea.

Please submit a one-page proposal describing your idea to Caspar and an outline budget at email@example.com by Monday 10 June at 10am. Details can be found on the brief.
The top three proposals will be selected on Monday 11 June. The three selected filmmakers will be given £250 each to produce their short film
The deadline for film submissions is Sunday 21 July.
The winning film will be;
• Displayed before each Sunset Screening
• Used by McPhersons on social media as their flagship advert
And the winning filmmaker(s) will receive £250 prize money.
