In Search Of Our Common Food

Sarah Macbeth and Anna Locke from Transition Town Hastings have been working on a design model, consisting of multiple resources and workshop activity, to support people to be designers of local, place-based community action. You can access some or all of the resources and activities online:

In Search of our Common Land Audio Guide is a walking audio guide that focuses on the initial discovery stage of the design model. The guide takes you on a journey to identify common land, currently under-utilised, that has the potential to become an urban forager’s gardens for the common good. Use headphones to listen on location and take a pen and paper to take notes and drawings.
Access the audio walking guide from our Soundcloud or access a transcript of the audio guide.

In Search of our Common Land  is a series of open questions and mapping tool, embedded in the collective storytelling mapping app Town Tales, Home Stories.

Citizens Are Designers is a downloadable tool to use to uncover the potential of collective action in public spaces. Download resource PDF or download resource Word doc.

You are encouraged to use the audio guide along with the Citizens Are Designers resource and the Town Tales, Home Stories mapping tool. An Urban Forager’s Garden Design online workshop was held on 10 April, 2021 with Anna Locke to learn how to plan, plant and maintain a forager friendly garden as a way to build a healthier community.
