Debut: music skills programme
Debut is a new annual programme that supports emerging musicians from the local area to offer them performance and development opportunities, including local studio time to record a track.
In 2108 workshops we held for five artists who then performed on the De La Warr Pavilion terrace supporting DJ Yoda. Each artist had the chance to record a song in a local studio and to perform at Under the Radar as part of Hastings’ Fat Tuesday music festival in March 2019.
The project has been devised by the Hastings & Rother Music City partnership – #1066MusicCity – and supported by Rother District Council, Hastings Borough Council, De La Warr Pavilion Charitable Trust, The Joe Strummer Foundation and Rhythmix.
2018 also saw the re-launch of Un-Convention, a session aimed at the grass-roots of the industry and brings together artists and practitioners to share knowledge and expertise.
Founded in 2008, Un-Convention is a UK based global music network and development agency. Events and projects bring together artists and practitioners to share knowledge and expertise. Through this are developws new and innovative approaches to building sustainable careers and alternative models for the music industries. Un-Convention events have taken place all around the world, and every year they work with thousands of artists and industry practitioners through conferences, workshops, youth projects, music co-operatives, gigs, festival stages and touring networks.
