If you’re running a small creative business, it can often be hard to know how to take your business forward or who to turn to for help.

South East Creatives is an exciting new £5.1m grants and support programme funded by the European Regional Development Fund that aims to give small businesses and sole traders in the creative, cultural and digital sector the boost they need to grow and thrive.

Creative business hub on your doorstep

Along with Towner Eastbourne, the De La Warr Pavilion is a South East Creatives hub that will be hosting workshops, knowledge exchange sessions, networking events and more – all aimed at nurturing, inspiring and showcasing our fantastic local creative sector.

We’ll be working alongside local programme co-ordinator Marina Norris to bring you expert advice and guidance, professional development and the opportunity to learn from and share with your peers.

What is South East Creatives?

South East Creatives is the new name of the South East Creative, Cultural and Digital Sector Project (SECCADS). Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the programme aims to support more than 370 creative, digital and cultural companies and sole traders across East Sussex, Kent and Essex and give a £2.5m boost to the area’s economy.

Who is South East Creatives?

South East Creatives is a business development programme for small and medium sized businesses in the creative, cultural or digital sectors. This includes industries such as:

  • Advertising and Marketing
  • Architecture
  • Crafts
  • Design: Product, Graphics and Fashiom
  • Film, TV, Radio
  • IT, Software, Gaming and Computer Services
  • Museums, Galleries and Libraries
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Photography
  • Publishing
  • Visual Arts

Businesses can be set up as limited companies or sole traders.

Is my business or project eligible for funding?

Can I only get advice or go to programme events if I get a grant?

No. South East Creatives aims to support creative businesses in lots of different ways including 121 advice, mentoring, professional development and knowledge exchange. You don’t need to apply for or receive a grant to benefit from the other support available.

Where are the South East Creatives hubs?

The De La Warr Pavilion is one of a number of cultural hubs across East Sussex, Kent and Essex who have been appointed to support the programme. Others include Towner Art Gallery, Creative Folkestone, Resort Studios in Margate and partners based in Thurrock, Southend and Colchester.
