Inspired by Ian Breakwell’s rich and detailed observations of daily life in text and images – this weekend visitors to the De La Warr helped us create a Twitter diary of words and pictures as a homage to the artist who so loved the Pavilion. The social media platform, Twitter, only became popular after Breakwell’s death – but we felt sure that the naturally brief and succinct nature of the Tweet, was something that would have appealed to him – and those who’d come to see the exhibition agreed. Young and old, amongst them many first time tweeters – wrote, drew and photographed, to create a unique diary of the day. Below are some of our tweets and you can continue to add to the Diary by tweeting using the #breakwelldiary hash tag.
